A Freindly Reminder

Just a reminder Holmes Community people October Fest is Thursday 12 noon at the Forum. 🙂

it’s been to long

Hey people! It’s been too long since I’ve actually done a blog so I thought I would feel ya’ll in to what’s going on in Aprilslife. College has started. It’s been pretty busy with helping Steven apply for college and the actives we’re involved in. This year I’m involved in SGA (student government). That has been fun! 🙂 I’ve never been involved in SGA before so this is all new to me, but so far it has been great. I’ve gotten involved with Wesley this year. I involved in Wesley last year but not as well as I should have been. Sadly, I can’t attended BSU (Baptist Student Union) due to classes. We, also, taken year book photos a few weeks back. Between classes, Wesley, and SGA things have been pretty crazy. But, it’s all good though. lol

the school year is almost over

Hey everyone! So it’s almost that time of the year again. The end of the school year. It’s a relief that it’s about to end, but bittersweet in away.  Mostly because this is my last year of high school and the fact that I really didn’t much during my four years of high school. I know that many of you will think that it’s weird for me to say that, but it’s the truth. I know I should be happy and everything, but a part of me feels kindof sad to be leaving.  I have many wonderful memories that I know I’ll remember for the rest of my life, and I’vwe made many friends that I’ll miss.(most of them are underclassmen). But, I know that everything will be ok. I start college in August with a couple of friends and I know that’ll be fun. I’ll keep ya’ll post on more senior stuff and I’ll possible do a series on college life. Later!

updates, updates, and more updates

So here’s another installment to my senior year serious. Ok, seeing how prom is over and done with it’s now time to move on to other things such as graduation. There’s a lot to tell so let’s get started.  We first have finals on May 9-11 so for some seniors(those who are doing less than stellar already) have to pass. We’re taking our exams earlier than the underclassmen because the very next week we start graduation practice. We will our last report card on May 15th to find out if we get to graduate.  We’ll have practice everyday up until May 18, which is the day of graduation. But before all that for those seniors who attend church with me have Graduate Sunday next Sunday. We have to be in Sunday school if we plan on attending, and after church serves that day we have a luncheon to attend. We don’t have to attend that but I think mist everyone is going to attend that. (I may do a separate blog about that) But, back to graduation. We get our cap and gown on May 17. We may have another practice that day but I’m not sure yet. After graduation we have to go to the lunch room to pick up our diploma and return our cap and gown. Well that’s what’s going on here over the next several weeks. I hope to do more blogs soon before I official graduate. So be look for that and I hope I’ll get to see you soon. Later!

Prom

So last night was prom. After months of waiting it finally arrived. Had everything ready. Got my hair and nails done, pick up my order at the flower shop, and finally it was time for prom. My date looked great in his tuxedo and I had the pretty dress ever on. Me and my date danced to almost every song played. One of my friends had a blast on the dance floor. Before prom I wasn’t sure about my hair appointment, because it had to be rescheduled. But other than that everything thing went perfectly. The king and queen was Guy and Shelby which was nice. The food was great. The decorations were awesome. Many of the dresses I saw were pretty.(even though some of them were what you would expect Barbie or a ballerina to wear)lol I had a great time and I knoww I’ll nev er forget last night.

writing on the wall

Now we’ve all seen writing on bathroom walls before. Normally they’re nothing but people bashing other people for whatever reason they  may have, but today I was looking at what someone had put on the bathroom wall awhile ago. And it read ” John 3:16, Jesus loves you always. You better believe it.” When I first saw this I was really glad that somebody had put something other than hateful words, but over time I began to realize that whoever wrote this had the courage to actual write this where everyone can see this. Not only because they’ll get in trouble for writing on the walls but for not caring if they offend anyone. I see Bible verse and saying almost every time I go to the restroom at school and what amazes me is that even though that someone tried to wash it off it’s still there. God obviously wants us to know this.  So the next time I see something positive on the restroom walls I’ll stop and take a look. Laters.

“For God so loved the world that he sent his own son for whoever believes in  him shall not die but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

The Grenada School Board has decided to adopt an “abstinence only” form of sex education to be compliant with a new state law.
According to Lynne Russell, director of community services, school districts across the state are required to teach sex education at all levels under a new law signed last year by former Gov. Haley Barbour.
“We have always taught an abstinence program, and our current program is in compliance with the new state regulation,” Russell said during Tuesday’s meeting.
The current program will be expanded to include all grades. Before, it was just taught at the middle school and high school, according to Russell.
“The program will teach abstinence, but it will be at an appropriate level of understanding for each grade,” Russell said.
Under the new law, the decision was left up to each school board as to teaching abstinence-only education, which teaches that abstaining from sex is the best way, or a comprehensive class called abstinence-plus.
In the comprehensive setting, the student would learn that abstinence was the best way, but would be taught safe sex practices, about birth control and the different sexually-transmitted diseases.
The board unanimously approved the program with a motion by District Two Board Member Dr. David Braswell, seconded by District Three Board Member Arlene Conley.

Other business

The board entered into executive session with a motion by Braswell, seconded by Hughes, to discuss potential litigation and personnel issues.
According to Daigneault, no official action was taken, and he could not discuss specific details of the executive session.
This is at least the first known executive session the school board has entered into that excluded the taxpaying public.
All board members were present including District Five Board Member Keith Watson.

update senior year

Hello everyone. Happy early Christmas. I haven’t done a post in a while so I thought it would be good to do one now. Everything is ok here. My birthday came and went. Thanksgiving was So this blog really isn’t on anything special.(Even though it is an update) The only things going on right now is that I have to take the ACT this Saturday, and of course Christmas is coming too. The only down side is the Christmas parade has been moved to next week so that’s a bummer. 😦 But oh well! Hopefully I’ll get some topics for some more blogs and I’ll get back to ya’ll soon hopefully. Merry Christmas. Later. 🙂

the 6th grade

The sixth grade wasn’t my best year. My grades weren’t as well as they could have been. Part of the reason was yea I was slacking off, but part of it was the fact I was being bullied. It wasn’t just one or two people doing it was pretty much the whole class doing it. I didn’t want to go to school because I knew that somebody was going to say something bad about me. To this day I don’t know why they did what they did. Maybe because I was the quiet one. Today it’s still going on yea but it’s calmed down some, but the my time in the sixth grade wont easily forgotten.  If you or somebody you know is being bullied don’t just stand there do something. Tell somebody you trust.  You’re not being a tattle tail if you turn the bully in. After that find ways to rebuild your self esteem up, like spending time with ur friends and family or doing something your good at. Just stay posititve.

Palestine wins UNESCO seat

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/envoy/palestine-wins-unesco-seat-143002573.html

Palestine won full admission into UNESCO, the United Nations science, education and cultural heritage organization, in a closely watched vote in Paris Monday. Global diplomacy hands view the 107-14 vote as a benchmark carrying larger implications for the Palestinians’ bid for state recognition before the UN Security Council. Both the United States and Israel have strongly opposed both initiatives.

The United States, Israel, Canada, Germany, Sweden and Australia were among the 14 nations voting against the Palestinians’ UNESCO bid, while 107 countries–including France, Spain, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, India, Russia, China, South Africa and Indonesia–voted in favor. Fourteen nations–including the United Kingdom and Italy–abstained.

Washington, which called the UNESCO vote “premature” Monday, has threatened to cut off funding to UNESCO if Palestine is granted membership. The United States currently accounts for about one-fifth of the organization’s budget.

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also rejected the UNESCO vote, and warned it would set back peace process.

“This is a unilateral Palestinian maneuver which will bring no change on the ground but further removes the possibility for a peace agreement,” the Israeli ministry said in a statement.  “This decision will not turn the Palestinian Authority into an actual state yet places unnecessary burdens on the route to renewing negotiations.”

Palestine’s successful UNESCO bid comes as Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair is due to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House Monday.

Blair has been trying to advance the Quartet’s efforts to get the Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table, asking each side to lay out their specific terms for resolving the issues of borders and security for a two-state solution. Meanwhile, Israeli officials have been depicting Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as an unworthy peace partner.

Abbas, in turn, has recently reiterated his periodic threat to dissolve the Palestinian Authority–a move that if carried out would presumably give Israel the burden of administering, funding, and coordinating security for the West Bank’s Palestinian population.
